This is going to hurt.
Friday, August 15th, 2008I need for you to sit down and brace yourself.
What I have to discuss today is not going to be easy, and in fact, I’m confident your will find it hard to believe.
The new show with Pam Anderson is terrible. I know, I am as shocked as your are.

Pam Anderson is a beautiful girl….that suffers from what so many attractive people do. The more she talks….the less attractive she gets. It’s a terrible curse.
I have tried watching her program, “Girl on the Loose” for two episodes. Hell, I even turned the volume off and I STILL can’t tolerate it. The camera work, the incessant special effects, the overall audio quality, it ALL sucks…..and NOT in the good way.
I’m sure you are as depressed by this latest television tragedy, but we will just have to work thru it.
Keep hope alive!!! LOL, sometimes I crack me up.

NBC is doing a great job at covering the Olympics, although they tended to make Michael Phelps a God..before he won his 5 (to date) gold medals.
Ann Curry says she is tired of people stopping her in Beijing and asking for directions. ( I made that one up.) J
Locally WYFF-TV seems to have gotten on the John Chesserich band wagon. They’ve been running a ton of spots promoting his longevity. I met John in the spring of this year during an event in Greer. Trust me when I tell you he is as nice in person as he seems on the tube.
Kim McCrea is still the best looking person on local TV.
The Classic Rock Olympics continue this week. A great way to relate music to the summer games.
The Better Business Bureau CEO, Cathy Barrett, is the guest on Upstate Issues this Sunday. She talks about the recent dust up regarding a “weight loss” center in Greer. Airtime is 7:30am.
Mark David Chapman was denied parole. He will spend the rest of his life in a cell for killing John Lennon. Good.
The police arrested a guy in Lavonia Georgia for keeping is wife and 4 kids locked in their mobile home for over 3 years. Several of the kids had never been to a school and the inside of their home was just as bad as you might imagine. Maybe someone in the country lockup will have a “heart to heart” with him and save the county the cost of trial. A burial is far cheaper. I’m not encouraging anyone to do anything violent, but this guy needs to find out what “justice” is.
Stay loose.
Groups of 3
Monday, August 11th, 2008You;ve heard the old expression “famous people die in groups of 3.” Seems it was true this weekend as we saw the passing of 3 noteables.
1. Bernie Mac died in a Chicago hospital at age 50.
2. Issac Hayes collapased and died next to his treadmill.
3. The career of John Edwards was killed by his own “hand.”
Two of the three had character and soul. The other is a user, mostly made of hubris and plastic. I’ll let you decide who falls into which category.
Wow!
Friday, August 8th, 2008Putting politics aside, the Chinese did a remarkable job for the opening ceremonies of the Summer Games.
With over 2,000 drummers the only thing lacking was hearing them perform “Wipeout” by the Safaris.
With an unlimited budget, one that totaled over $350 MILLION the opening event was both spectacular and inspiring.
When the day to day aspect of “life” tends to wear me down, to take the fun down a bit, it is a huge boost to witness the pure creative abilities of the human spirit. Tonight, Friday July 8th, the world caught a glimpse into what CAN be done and should be done. As someone that loves project management, loves details, truly loves planning and results, I found myself sitting in a room by myself, smiling and at the same time being envious. Envious of those that worked so hard and were able to see the results of those efforts.
Speaking of results, permit me a brief moment of pride.
Earlier today the latest ratings were released and, thanks to you, ROCK 101, once again views the radio market from the top of the mountain. My contribution to the success is relatively small, but nonetheless, I’m proud of the results and proud to part of the team that works 24 x 7 to keep the legacy of the mighty “WROQ flamethrower” in tact.
Earlier this week my mom got an encouraging report regarding her chemo treatments and you could see the improvement in her spirits.
Little things, big things, all things, the end product of work and effort, yielding results. All in all, it has been an above average week.
